China has, in around ten years of development, become the most important manufacturing base of polyester. 1/4 of the existing polyester productivity, as well as half of polyester filament and 1/3 of polyester staple fiber of the current world are concentrated in China, so China is by its reality the global “millwork of polyester product”. Following an overall upgrade of chemical fiber equipment and an innovation of spinning technology of China in the recent ten years, China has seen an enormous upgrade of polyester product quality, while export of polyester products is increasing in years; production in large scale with low labor cost has brought about more competitiveness of China in the international market. So far as China has joined WTO, more and more Chinese chemical fiber enterprises are projecting the international market, in an urge to export their quality products to, and /or to find new partners from other countries /areas. At the same time, the global demand for chemical fiber is increasing, especially in some developing countries where the demand is booming. More and more international buyers are realizing the significance of China as a large supply base and the importance of their long-term partnership inside China.

In order to enhance the communication between countries in polyester area, China Chemical Fibers Association Information Center and First Meridian Group Limited organized an international sourcing event for polyester products in China, in which enterprises from some other countries understood the status of China's polyester industry and got acquainted with Chinese polyester manufacturers. This visiting delegation of sourcing representatives was hosted in Hangzhou, China during March 13th ~ 20th of 2005, where the leading Chinese polyester manufacturers (whose products include CHIP, POY, FDY, DTY and PSF and industry yarn) were present. Chinese domestic manufacturers of polyester met with the sourcing delegations at 2005 International Polyester Buyer-Seller Fair in China, where most of their direct communications of long-range partnership have begun from then on.

The sourcing delegation has, through this direct exposure to Chinese manufacturers, got acquainted with the leading companies of polyester manufacturing in China, where their search of mutual benefit is on the way. A report was presented by Mr. Ye Yongmao, Vice Executive President /Professor of China Chemical Fibers Association at the conference of March 16th, 2005, reflecting all the dimensions of chemical fiber industry of the People's Republic of China in the world. Some visits have been accommodated to the most typical factories of PET CHIP, POY, FDY, DTY and PSF, namely Hangzhou Top Polyester, Ningbo Dafa, Taicang Zhenhui and Jiangsu Senjo, as well as Qianqing Market, one of China's biggest chemical fiber terminal markets and Shanghai Jwell, one of the largest chemical fiber machinery producers of the current state of the art.

Hangzhou is widely perceived from history as paradise on the earth, with the most typical historical attractions of ancient China, where a brief display of the well-known West Lake and a visit to its historical sites were facilitated.
